April 9, 2017 UAE Healthy Kidney 10k Run in Central Park
Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Takes Part in UAE Healthy Kidney 10k Run in New York Sponsored by the Al Habtoor Group
On Sunday, April 9th 2017 Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founding Chairman, Al Habtoor Group took part in the UAE Healthy Kidney 10K Run in Central Park. The race, in honor of the later Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founder President of the United Arab Emirates, benefits the National Kidney Foundation. Now in its 13th year, the race was started to promote education and awareness of kidney health and kidney disease.
The Al Habtoor Group has sponsored the race for two years. A $30,000 Zayed Bonus, courtesy of the Embassy of the UAE will be given to the first man to break the time of 27:35, and the first woman to finish the race in under 30:44.
Khalaf Al Habtoor said, "I am proud to sponsor the Healthy Kidney 10K Run in New York. It is for a great cause in memory of a great leader, Sheikh Zayed. The race brings together many different nationality for a very worthy cause. The warm weather in Central Park was amazing. People got the opportunity to witness Emirati hospitality."
The Chairman was joined by several high profile Emiratis including Lt General Mohammed Helal Al Kaabi and Brigadier Ismail Alawadhi, Défense, Military, Naval & Air Attaché at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (Washington & Canada). Lt General Al Kaabi is head of the Sheikh Zayed Healthy Kidney 10k delegation.
There were 14,000 registered runners in the 13th Annual UAE Healthy Kidney 10k run. However 30,000 people participated on the day.
Earlier in the week Khalaf Al Habtoor visited a children's hospital in Washington DC where he met with children suffering from kidney diseases. He was given a tour of the facilities to see groundbreaking research and development centre. It concluded with a visit to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington DC.
