Christopher Hyland Residence, Sept 13, 2012
The 2012 Holiday House Showhouse will benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation®, founded by Evelyn Lauder: the late style-setter and philanthropist's husband, Leonard Lauder, is the Honorary Chairman. Beth Brenner, Sarah Gore and Ann Maine are serving as Vice Chairmen.
Iris Dankner and Christopher Hyland, Chairmen of the 2012 Holiday House Showhouse, held a cocktail party at Hyland's apartment for the Committee. Iris, a breast cancer survivor, founded Holiday House Showhouse five years ago, ingeniously combining her passion for interior design with her goal to raise money to eradicate cancer. Hyland believes "Iris is a visionary, a tenacious New York treasure, committed to continuing Evelyn Lauder's legacy through the Holiday House."
The Holiday House takes place between October 25 and November 18 at the eight bay Blavatnik Mansion at 2 East 63rd Street. The Opening Night Preview Party is on October 24.
The Honorary Design Chairmen include Robert Couturier, Steve Bastone, Jamie Drake, Victoria Hagan, Alexa Hampton, Charlotte Moss, Mario Buatta, Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill, and Bunny Williams.
Geoffrey Bradfield is creating a dream room for HYLAND, the app magazine, and Christopher Hyland textiles. Tobi Fairley is designing a room for Traditional Home magazine. Roger Thomas, Charlotte Moss, Vincente Wolf, Inson Wood, Eric Cohler, Paula + Martha and Javaras-Kennally, among others, are each creating compelling design schemes.
Tricia Huntley is decorating a room using Edwina Sandys’ art along with products from luxury companies such as Roche Bobois. Baccarat is illuminating the
showhouse with various chandeliers and tabletop settings. Inson Wood is paying homage to Hermes. Stephanie Odegard is creating a room designed around her custom rugs. Roger Thomas is creating a room for Maya Romanoff.
The Holiday House has gathered an extraordinary cross-section of design talent to both promote a vital industry and to raise funds to combat the scourge of breast cancer. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®, in tandem with the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, are outstanding legacies that Evelyn Lauder created.
