On Thurs, February 18th the Academy’s Official New York Oscar Party hosted a press preview to showcase some of the advance preparations for the Academy’s office New York Oscar night celebration. Oscar Sunday, March 7, 2010 New York-area members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will celebrate the 82nd Academy Awards at GILT at The New York Palace hotel. Oscar Sunday will begin with a reception in the GILT bar, renowned for its selection of signature cocktails. Moet & Chandon, the exclusive champagne of the 82nd Annual Academy Awards celebrates a return of old-time Hollywood elegance, with the debut of a specially designed cocktail, the “Golden Glamour,” to be served on Hollywood’s biggest night. The Goldne Glamour is Moet Champagne, Navan and Passion fruit juice topped with a fresh sprig of mint for garnish.
The celebration will only be enhanced by the artistry of GILT’s culinary team: Executive Chef Justin Bogle and executive Patry Chef David Carmichael. They have created a special menu for the occasion and provided a first peek at the specially created courses and exclusive cocktail is inspired by this year’s 10 Best Picture academy Award nominees, as well as the décor and table setting. After watching each of the ten films nominated for this year’s best Picture Oscar, GILT’s chefs Justin and Michael were inspired to create a special ten-course menu for the New York Oscar Night Party. Here is the evening’s menu along with some of the inspirational ideas behind each dish:
Inglourious Basterds Hiramasa and Blood Orange Ceviche;
A Serious Man – Matzo Balls with Roasted Chicken Consomme “Comfort food for the soul” a dish that could help cure the trials and tribulations in any man’s life.
The Blind Side – Mississippi style corn fritters; First Course: An Education – Chef Bogle’s salad trifecta featuring three preparatios of “beets”in this not-so-square root.
The Hurt Locker – Foie Gras Bomb- a truly explosive dish that mixes sweet and savory of coco-curry, passion fruit and peanuts.
District 9 (Alaskan Spot Prawns), culinary artistry meets science fiction fantasy in this zesty “alien” twist on a seafood delicacy.
Up in the Air (a high flying Long Island Duck will be served on a convenient yet elegant “airline tray”…only visually resembles airline food!
Avatar (Inverted Blueberry Pie, Precious (a sapphire colored chocolate truffle,
Up (fruit balloons floating on a pastillage string) a romantic, lighter-than-air treat to provide the evening’s final “lift off.”
