Colombo Mobili, the renowned Italian-based furniture and custom-made wood paneling company, hosted the grand opening of their flagship showroom in the New York Design Center on Tuesday, March 18 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Over 150 top architects, designers, press and VIPs were welcomed into the newly renovated space to celebrate the unveiling of Colombo Mobili’s only showroom in the U.S. Jim Druckman, President of the New York Design Center, said “We are delighted that Colombo Mobili has created a new jewel of a showroom. Their commitment to the design community and the city of New York is an example for others to follow."
The showroom was redesigned by Italian-born, New York Based architect Giusi Mastro, which for the first time on Tuesday, allowed visitors to have an intimate connection with Colombo Mobili craftsmanship and to witness the breadth of the collection, from solid walnut furniture to the fine wood paneling for which the company name is synonymous.
The grand opening of this showroom plays a vital role in Colombo Mobili’s 150- year-old company says Vice President and company heir Paolo Colombo, “New York is a city rich in tradition and alive with innovation- our NYDC showroom now reflects that idea perfectly. Giusi Mastro’s design illustrates the immense possibilities for Colombo Mobili signature craftsmanship to feel at home in the modern age.” The event also marks the beginning of a four-week period in which a portion of the proceeds of all Colombo Mobili sales will benefit the Kip’s Bay Boys and Girls club of New York – a symbol of the company's gratitude to the New York City community.
Distinguished guests included
Amy Lau, James Rixner, Jim Druckman, Barbara Tober, Ellie Cullman and Nazira Handal.
