On Wednesday, November 20 The Store at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) hosted a cocktail and shopping event to premiere its seventh seasonal edition of RE:FINE, formerly known as Re-defining Fine Jewelry. A highly curated showcase of twenty-one forward-thinking international artists who offer a refreshing alternative to the conventional world of fine jewelry, RE:FINE spotlights artists whose jewelry reflects the ethos of MAD’s mission to present work at the intersection of art, craft, and design. During the event, the jewelers were on hand to present their work to guests.
RE:FINE Holiday 2019’s hosts were Michele Cohen, Marcia Docter, Joan Hornig, Barbara Tober and Barbara Waldman.
As part of the evening's festivities, there was a book signing with author Kyle Roderick to celebrate the release of her book BEJEWELED: The World of Ethical Jewelry (Rizzoli, 2019). Three of RE:FINE Holiday 2019 jewelers, Stella Flame, Joan Hornig and LorenTeetelli of Loren Nicole are amongst the fifteen designers Roderick profiles in her book who are making ethical jewelry an important part of the luxury goods world.
This season’s collections featured, for the first time, Alishan, Kika Alvarenga, Dana Bronfman, Branch, Sandrine de Laage, Ray Griffiths, Dana Kellin, Loren Nicole and Elizabeth Street. The returning artists are Agas & Tamar, Stephanie Albertson, Lika Behar, Octavia Elizabeth, Elizabeth Garvin, Estela Guitart, Joan Hornig, Anthony Lent, Tony Malmed, Margoni,Todd Pownell and .925 Suneera.
