The Third Annual “Texas Hold’em Tournament & Casino Night,” to benefit St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters, was held on Thursday December 12, 2013 at the New York Marriott Marquis in the heart of Times Square. Two-Time NBA Champion and New York Knicks Hall of Fame Legend Walt Frazier was the Guest of Honor and John Starks, New York Knicks was the Celebrity Guest.
Robert Gavin, Global Manager at Citco Technology was the Event Chair, along with Event Committee members Bruce Eagel, Eagel Sports Promotions; Angelo LoBue, Kiehls; Austin McCann, Local Union No. 3; Joe Roberto, BankUnited, N.A.; Mike Smith, BankUnited, N.A.; Donna Zavattierri, Schneider & Schneider.
Over 200 guests attended the event and enjoyed classic Casino games including Craps, Blackjack and Slot machines. The main draw, however, was the Texas Hold’Em Tournament. Competition was high as players vied to win great prize packages and trips, including a grand prize of an all-inclusive trip for two to the Dominican Republic. The event raised over $100,000 to provide food, clothing and counseling to the needy throughout the New York area. This was another successful event that supported the mission of St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters.
