Urban Green Walk Ribbon Cutting, April 19, 2013
On Friday, April 19th the NYC urban greenwalk community initiative kicked-off with a Green Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Magnolia Bakery on 401 Bleecker Street. Brooke Shields is an Honorary Board Member of urban greenwalk. The nine-day Bleecker Street tribute is dedicated to educating people about personal eco responsibility and actionable green initiatives.
The urban greenwalk signature video walk is on exhibit in storefront windows along Bleecker Street, between Bank and Charles Streets. Green enthusiasts can spot the videos in high profile stores such as Ralph Lauren, Juicy Couture, Burberry Brit and Mark Jacobs along with NARS, Robert Mark, Jimmy Choo, LuLu Guinness and others. The video content will support the platforms of some of the leading organizations including GrowNYC, Green Thumb, Solar One and the Natural Areas Conservancy. Other platforms supported by the urban greenwalk videos include Riverkeeper, The Terra Mar Project, Waterkeeper Alliance and Transportation Alternatives. Participants will discover an eco-conscience lifestyle is both accessible and entertaining for New York City dwellers.
Additional programming over the following eight days will be focused on activity, education and experience. Education partner The Leadership Program will visit with field trips from metro area schools. The Hudson River Park Trust will co-host a Meet and Green public speaking event with the founders and directors of the participating non-profits with their activities centered around gardening, walking and biking as well as recycling, solar and water.
