BANDIER hosted an exclusive Same Sky cocktails and shopping event on
Tuesday, April 4th at their Upper East Side location. The evening was
co-hosted by Francine LeFrak, Jennifer Bandier, Ashley Bandier, Andrea
F. Hunsberger, Stacy Fisher, Allison Koffman, Nancy Pearson and a
special guest Sheila Nevins who previewed her new book You Don’t Look
Your Age and Other Fairy Tales!
Same Sky is a trade initiative working with collectives to create
employment opportunities in Rwanda and the U.S. We work with HIV+
women survivors of the Rwandan genocide and women ex-offenders in
Jersey City. Same Sky gives women ex-offenders a real, credible
alternative from being trapped in the loop between jail and the
streets. The recidivism rate for Same Sky artisans is zero, whereas
the country’s average is 75%.
At the event, Same Sky introduced new gemstone pieces and black tie
rose gold bracelets. Advanced copies of Sheila Nevins’ book You Don’t
Look Your Age and Other Fairy Tales were given out with a purchase of
Same Sky jewelry and Sheila gave a reading from the book.
Every purchase helps advancing Same Sky's mission of giving second
chances and creating more opportunities for women across the world.
For example, when you purchase a Same Sky bracelet it pays for Rwandan
artisan’s Healthcare for a year and helps women ex-offenders rebuild
their lives.
