American Cancer Society's Hamptons Gala Festive in Flip-Flops, July 21, 2012
On Saturday July 21st the American Cancer Society's Hamptons Gala Festive in Flip-Flops commenced with a full cocktail party bustling with excitement followed by a semi-formal seated dinner at Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf. Cocktail hour gave way to a grand red carpet where Celebs and VIPs entered early on. Those in attendance included: Actress Susan Lucci, Actor Mark Feuerstein, Fashion + Style Expert Stacy London, Football Legend Boomer Esiason, and Restaurateur B. Smith and husband Dan Gasby, Designer Christopher Fischer and wife Joni, President, Sales, Discovery Networks; Bill Koenigsberg, Founder and CEO of Horizon Media, and wife Jessica and David Levy, President of Turner Broadcasting wife Nikki.
The seated dinner came courtesy of Robbins-Wolfe, and featured a delicious grilled sea bass. Attentive waiters stood table side with open red and white wine courtesy of Flip-Flop Wines. Salutations came early on by ACS Chair Sherri Abruzesse followed by the evening's host Stacy London.
Early on cancer survivors and victims were remembered and reflected upon. As guests dined, a live auction took place. It was a very successful 45 minutes, contributing to the highest ACS fundraising numbers to date--in upwards of 44,000 was raised. While silent auction items ranged significantly from spa packages to sports memorabilia it was certainly the latter that drew in the bids. A framed and signed black and white photo of legendary golfers Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer drew particular attention. The evening closed with many taking to the dance floor against the backdrop to Peat Moss and the Fertilizers. A final gathering came by way of a lovely bonfire on the beach.
