The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s Junior Board's 4th Annual Evening at City Bakery, April 30, 2113
On Tuesday, April 30th, The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s (OCRF) Junior Board celebrated its 4th annual Evening at City Bakery, from 8-11pm, with dinner, drinks, hot chocolate and a fabulous silent auction to benefit OCRF.
The event is part of the OCRF Junior Board’s annual campaign to increase public awareness of the symptoms and early detection challenges of ovarian cancer, a disease that affects approximately 22,000 American women annually. Because there is no early detection test and symptoms are vague, ovarian cancer is usually diagnosed in advanced stages, and only 45% percent of patients survive more than 5 years. The five-year survival rate for ovarian cancer has increased by only 8% in the last 30 years. Now more than ever, scientific research to find more effective diagnostics, treatments, and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer is needed.
The OCRF Junior Board’s efforts are specifically focused on expanding awareness of OCRF and its mission to younger members of the community and supporting events that will raise much-needed funds for the cause.
