Nov 23, 2020 Cancer Alliance's Turkey Giveaway at the Palm Beach Firehouse
Thanksgiving comes early for Cancer Patients
Cancer Alliance of Help & Hope hosted a special Thanksgiving food giveaway to over 100 of their clients who are dealing with cancer during this holiday season. These families gathered at the North Fire Rescue Station located at 300 North County Road in Palm Beach where each family picked up a turkey or ham, apple pie, a $200 gift card, as well as, thanksgiving treats and stuffed animals to help bring cheer during the holiday season.
Six of the Palm Beach Finest Firemen were on hand to make sure that over 60 children had a fun time. The children had an up-close opportunity to see the fire rescue trucks and took turns holding on to the firehose as they had their photo taken with the firemen in the background.
The firemen, who were all in special protective gear, provided the children with a goody bag and fire hats from the department and happily assisted the cancer patients to their car with their turkeys and special giveaways.
The children were surprised and delighted by the special appearance of “Tom the Turkey” who provided another fun photo op.
The Thanksgiving Giveaway was in partnership with The Town of Palm Beach United Way who provided funds for the gift cards from their Covid-19 Emergency Grant. Janet and Mark Levy continued their incredible generosity to the clients of Cancer Alliance by underwriting the 20 lbs. Turkeys and Hams, stuffed animals and thanksgiving treats. “Cancer Alliance is most grateful to The Palm Beach United Way and to Janet and Mark Levy who has been a godsend to our families with cancer during the Covid-19 pandemic” said Stanton Collemer, CEO of Cancer Alliance. “During the past seven months, Janet and Mark not only underwrote, the Thanksgiving Giveaway but provided over 1,500 meals to local families who are not only dealing with cancer in their lives but who are also dealing with the stressful times of COVID-19.”
