April 2, 2012 - Stroke of Genius
On Monday, April 2nd Strokes of Genius celebrated their Second Annual Benefit at 100 United Nations Plaza. The evening hosted an extraordinary art exhibition and reception in support of Strokes of Genius mission to empower individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to "Train The Talent℠. Strokes of Genius will soon be providing educational art studio experiences and workshops to “Train the Talent” ℠ of young students with ASD within an art studio experience to guide and support students through the creative process encouraging motivation, choice, and problem solving.
Dr. Rosa C. Martinez (President) and Stuart Flaum (Vice President) of SOG awarded artists Trent Altman and Seth Chwast trophies for their achievements and winning designs for the United Nations World Autism Awareness Stamp for 2012. A high point to the evening were the speeches made by 16 year old Amanda LaMunyon and 14 year old Paloma Kalisch who paid tribute to their parents for supporting their artistic endeavors. On behalf of Dr. Temple Grandin awards were presented to the pioneering parents of Strokes of Genius artists who have nurtured and supported an artistic journey for their sons and daughters. Strokes of Genius has been helping artists for the past 6 years by providing opportunities for individual artist exposure through publications, radio, television, documentaries and exhibitions.
